What You're Doing This Weekend – Feb. 6-8

The Gems

Road Rage: They're big, they're bad, and they're back in Hartford. We're talking about Monster Jam. You'll see some of the biggest cars in the world crushing little Volvos like ants. It's all of the hardcore horsepower you can handle.

Upgrade your Home: The Western New England Home Show is going on at Western CT State University this weekend. You can check out all sorts of home products and services by local, state and national vendors - as well as some pretty darn cool new displays.  Tickets are cheap - cheaper if you bring a non-perishable food item to donate to The Living Pantry.

For the Kids

Music and More: Bring the kids to the Lutz Children's Museum in Manchester this weekend and you'll get to see a free concert with your paid admission. Dwight Baldwin is the self-proclaimed Professor of Percussion. He'll break it down on instruments from around the world.

A Spoon Full of Sugar:  Step back in time at the Garde Arts Center in New London this weekend.  They're hosting a Mary Poppins Sing A Long.  Admission is just $10.  They restored a 35 mm print of the classic 1964 film customized with on-screen lyrics. You'll also get a complimentary bag of interactive 'props'.

Date Ideas

Ghetto Chronicles: Trinity-on-Main in New Britain will host a musical journey this weekend. It's a show that shares the pain and triumphs of inner city living. It's told by eight young people with song, dance and rap. Tickets are $20.

Wildlife Search: Head to Pomfret on Saturday for a Winter Tracking Hike. Program leaders will take you on a hike and teach you how to find the tracks and signs of local wildlife at the Bafflin Sanctuary. It'll be cold, so bundle up.
