6/11: Charity, Comedy and German Cuisine

It's Thursday, and you know what that means. One more day until the weekend. And everybody knows we're working for the weekend. (Sorry, had to do it.)

Anyway, let's start your night off in Hartford, where you can eat, drink and be merry for a great cause.

Spris is holding a "Springs for Mercy" night and will donate to Mercy Housing and Shelter $1 for every beer, $3 for every glass of wine and $4 for every martini sold. There's even a raffle to help in the fight against homelessness.

The evening starts at 6 p.m. and there's no cover charge.

Moving down to Stamford, it's not for any special cause, but you can still enjoy some great comedy.

SNL alum Jim Breuer is back in Connecticut for two nights of shows at Catch a Rising Star, which is located in the Marriott Stamford.

Brewer is perhaps best known for his quotable role in "Half-Baked." (Of course, most of those quotes aren't so quotable in mixed company, man.)

There are shows at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., and tickets will run you between $45 and $60.

Finally, grab your lederhosen. We're going German tonight!

La Trattoria in Canton is hosting its semi-annual German Night Dinner.

Helmet Goetz, former chef and owner of the Edelweiss in West Hartford, will cook a tasty authentic meal.  And there promises to be plenty of festive music for an evening of great food and fun entertainment.

Call 860-673-5000 for info and reservations.

So, save a stein and a brat for me, and enjoy your Thursday!
