Yale Football Player Tries Out for “The Voice”

Dez Duron, a Yale student, gets Christina Aguilera's attention.

A 21-year-old Yale football player did not make the cut on “The Voice” last week, but he did get Christina Aguilera’s attention.

Dez Duron, a Shreveport, Louisiana native and member of Yale’s class of 2014, told the judges he took a semester off from his Ivy League studies and position on Yale’s football team to pursue his musical aspirations.

Christina Aguilera almost hit the button as Duron sang, The Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way,” indicating she wanted him for her team, but she did not. Ultimately, none of the judges ultimately chose him.

After turning around and seeing Denton, Aguilera put her head in her hands.

“I have to take the cake for feeling the most guilt, because, I mea,n how adorable are you? But you already known that,” Aguilera. “Can I please go back around. Can we start over?”
