The good news is that you could get money back if you hold onto your water bottles and redeem them later.
If you drink a lot of anything that comes in a bottle, you might soon need a bigger recycling bin. Another bill includes not only a deposit on water bottles but also on other drinks, such as teas and sports drinks.
The current bill only places a deposit on bottles and cans containing soda and beer.
New leaders in the House of Representatives are more supportive of the idea than former House Speaker James Amann was, Rep. Richard Roy, co-chairman of the legislature's Environment Committee, said.
There's also a proposal to increase the 5-cent deposit to 10 cents.
