Bitter Twitter: Moore Calls for CT Boycott

Michael Moore is threatening to boycott Connecticut if we don't recall Sen. Joe Lieberman.

The liberal filmmaker who has used films and books to take on former President George W. Bush,  the U.S. health care system and the the collective soul of Americans launched out against Lieberman, and the entire state of Connecticut in a series of tweets on Wednesday.

The first was"People of Connecticut: What have u done 2 this country? We hold u responsible. Start recall of Lieberman 2day or we’ll boycott your state."

What Moore is asking for is not possible. Connecticut law and the U.S. Constitution prevent this state from recalling a U.S. Senator. Something that Moore mentions in a tweet he sent nine hours after the first one.

Guess I'm spoiled living in Mich. where we can recall our state pols. Can't do that in CT. And NO state can recall their US Sen! Democracy!

The reason Moore and so many others are paying attention to Lieberman right now is his vow to vote against the health care reform bill this week, unless the public option and the Medicare buy-in proposals were removed from the measure. Democrats seemingly caved into Lieberman's request to ensure his vote and work is being done on a compromise bill.

Moore's tweets continues around midnight, when Moore sent out his last tweet for the night: One man stands in the way of universal health care. He's your man, CT. We can't control him. U can. What r u waiting for? Boycott coming.

While Moore is the only filmmaker we know of looking for Lieberman's power to be stripped, he was not the first one to bring up a recall. U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro was the first one to do this, but the Connecticut Democrat acknowledged that such action is not provided under the law.
