New Sketch of Jewelry Store Murder Suspect

Wesport Police hope a new sketch will give them new leads.

Westport police have released another sketch of the man suspected of opening fire in a jewelry store last week, killing the owner and injuring another man.

Yekutiel Zeevi, 65, was shot and killed inside YZ Manufacturing, his Post Road jewelry store, on Thursday.

His associate, Ronen Konfino, was critically wounded, but his condition has improved and he was able to provide police the details for the sketch.

"It's a very good sketch,” Marci Caporizzo, of Westport, said. “I certainly do hope they find him. It's a real tragedy."

Flowers have been placed outside the jewelry store where Zeevi saw customers by appointment. Police believe the suspect had an appointment on Wednesday and again on Thursday, which is when the shooting occurred.

Police also released surveillance photos of the man taken on Wednesday with a nearby camera.

Authorities are asking anyone who was at one of the many businesses in the Compo Shopping Center on Wednesday or Thursday to look at the sketch and call them if they recognize the suspected shooter.

He's described as 5 feet, 10 to 6 feet tall, in his mid-40s, with short "salt and pepper" colored hair. He had three to four days of facial hair growth at the time of the crime.

He was wearing a dark wool driving cap, jeans, and cowboy style boots with a zippered front and was driving a blue four-door boxy vehicle with no front plate.

Police and the community are hoping the photos and now this sketch will lead them to the shooter.

"I would think so. It's very explicit. That's a pretty detailed sketch,” said Kathy O’Reardon of Westport.

"I hope so. I've never heard of something like this happening in this area, so hopefully they'll catch him cause it's a scary situation,” said Sara Fayngold of Weston.
