Officer Struck, Suspects Flee to Mass.

An Enfield Police officer was injured Friday when he was struck by a car and dragged along Freshwater Boulevard.

The officer  was on patrol when he noticed a suspicious vehicle with three men inside around 8:30 p.m., said police.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects fled, striking the officer with their car and dragging him a short distance and almost striking a second officer, who had arrived as backup.

The officer who was struck by the vehicle was transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital and later released, according to police

The suspects continued onto Route 190 and then took I-91 north into Springfield, Mass., where police lost them.

But police did locate the vehicle on Washington Road in Springfield a short time later.

Police have identified the suspects and filed for arrest warrants. The names of the suspects will release later, said police.
