Robert Gibbs Insults Sweet Dick Cheney

White House press secretary dishonors the office with his jibes

Can you believe this awful man, Robert Gibbs, and the terrible vendetta he has against poor old Dick Cheney?

Cheney was so debilitated by the demands of the vice presidency that he left office in a wheelchair. And since then, he has done nothing but give Barack Obama very helpful advice about running the country, like saying that Obama's anti-terrorism policy will get us all killed, suggesting it's not George Bush's fault that the economy's completely ruined, and saying again that Obama will get us all killed.

Usually the folks who leave office will refrain from offering up opinions on the new administration for a while, because it's considered "classy" or whatever. Not everybody gets to work in or around the White House, and so those who do are members of that elite club tend to treat each other pretty nicely. Heck, even George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton were civil!

So it's kind of a bummer that Dick Cheney keeps going on talk shows and discussing how Barack Obama is doing everything wrong. But the real outrage is that Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, would dare speak ill of Dick Cheney in a public forum.

In a press conference on Monday, Gibbs suggested that Cheney had unleashed his latest salvo on CNN because "Rush Limbaugh wasn't available," and that Cheney was part of a "Republican cabal."

So disrespectful! Who does this Gibbs think he is, being sarcastic in a press conference when the person under discussion is none other than the revered national treasure Dick Cheney? Gibbs has embarrassed himself and Barack Obama by making these mildly derisive remarks about a man who keeps going on television and actively undermining the sitting president.
