Casino's Gamble Against Smoking

Where there’s smoke, there’s no poker, or slots or roulette – if Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has anything to do with it.

Blumenthal plans to again urge state legislators ban smoking at the state’s two casinos.

Blumenthal said he is responding to an agreement Mohegan Sun officials made with the governor to eliminate second-hand smoke with high-tech ventilation systems.

Workers at Foxwoods Resort Casino delivered a letter to Gov. M. Jodi Rell's office Wednesday expressing concern that ventilation systems don't adequately remove second-hand smoke.

Blumenthal said a smoking ban is the best way to protect people's health.

Mohegan Sun officials said they're taking steps to reduce second-hand smoke, including doubling the smoke-free gambling space.
