He's Not Just the Paper Boy

Some long-time readers of The Herald of New Britain and The Bristol Press are getting their paper again, straight from the new publisher.

Michael E. Schroeder, who bought the two central Connecticut newspapers from Journal Register Co., personally delivered copies of the two newspapers to their longest subscribers Monday.

Both subscribers have been receiving the papers for more than 65 years.

The price of the deal through which Schroeder acquired the papers has not been disclosed. The sale includes the assets of the two newspapers' Web sites and weekly papers in Wethersfield, Newington and Rocky Hill.

Yardley, Pa.-based Journal Register had threatened to stop publishing The Herald and Press after their Jan. 16 editions if a buyer didn't come forward.

Schroeder is a longtime newspaper and magazine industry executive.
