Chilly Economy Freezes Water Park Plan

Your ticket to summer fun will buy you this coming summer what it did last.

Lake Compounce officials are delaying the multimillion-dollar expansion of the water park by at least a year.

The theme park was counting on $3.3 million dollars in state aid before undertaking a five-year project.

Legislators from Bristol and Southington had been lobbying Gov. M. Jodi Rell but that money’s not coming this year.

The project lost its last chance for funding this year when it was left off the State Bond Commission’s agenda.

Officials had hoped to open the first phase of the expansion by 2010.

Perhaps the economy will start heating up again before swimsuit weather is back.
