New London police are investigating after a man was injured in a shooting on Hawthorne Drive Saturday night.
Police said they responded to the parking lot at 158 Hawthorne Drive around 8:36 p.m. for a report of man shot. When they arrived they found a male victim, identified as Jerimy Escalera, 29, of New London, suffering from a possible gunshot wound to his side. First responders reported the victim was lying in a lot of blood.
Escalera was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital by the New London fire department for treatment, then transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital by LifeStar for emergency surgery. His condition is unknown at this time.
