Husband and Wife Killed in Trumbull Crash

A husband and wife died after a single-car crash in Trumbull Monday.

Trumbull Police said they responded to the crash on Old Town Road at approximately 3 p.m. They received several 911 calls reporting that a car crashed into a bridge, officials said.

Police say 69-year-old Noelli Escarraga, of Bridgeport, was driving south on Quarry Road near Old Town Road when his car hit a bridge abutment head-on.

He was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

His wife, 62-year-old Maria Escarraga, who was a passenger in the car, was also taken to the hospital and died.

The husband and wife were the only two in the car, police said.

The road was closed for several hours as police investigated the crash.
