A West Haven mom was arrested in Orange after leaving her 10-year-old boy alone in the car for about 20 minutes on an 18-degree day, according to police.
Police said Maria Hernandez-Valencia, 41, left her young son in the car while she went shopping at Sam's Club at 2 Boston Post Road the morning of Feb. 14.
The boy was wearing a coat and shorts and was alone in the parking lot for 20 minutes, according to police.
Hernandez-Valencia was issued a court summons on charges of leaving a child under 12 years old unsupervised.
She was released on a promise to appear and was due in court Monday.
