88-Year-Old Woman Killed, 66-Year-Old Woman Injured in Groton Crash

An 88-year-old woman who was injured in a crash on Gold Star Highway in Groton on Monday afternoon has died and the other driver, a 66-year-old woman, remains hospitalized, according to police.

Police said the two vehicles were involved in a crash on Gold Star Highway at the intersection of Flanders Road at 12:04 p.m.

Authorities said 88-year-old Jean Shutsky, of Oakdale, was driving a 2007 Nissan Versa east on Gold Star Highway near Flanders Road and 66-year-old Marilyn Comrie, of Groton, was driving a 1999 Honda Fit north on Flanders Road, approaching the intersection with Gold Star Highway, when the vehicles collided

Both drivers were transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London and transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven.

Shutsky died at 12:22 a.m. Tuesday, police said, and Comrie remains hospitalized. No one else was in either car.
