2 Injured in Flash Fire at Waterbury Oxford Airport

Two contractors performing maintenance on fuel farm tanks at Waterbury Oxford Airport were injured in a flash fire Sunday, according to Sharon Traficante, Director of Administration at Bradley International Airport.

Keystone, a "fixed based operator," had two employees of contractor Gem Services doing routine maintenance on one of the tanks when the fire happened, Traficante said.

The employees were injured and transported to a Bridgeport hospital.

The fire remains under investigation. State police and Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials are also investigating.
