Police ID Victims of Waterbury Crash That Killed 2, Injured 3

Two people were killed and another three were injured in a crash in Waterbury Wednesday night.

Police said a 2017 Hyundai Elantra driven by 32-year-old Norman Roberts, of Waterbury, and a 1999 Subaru Forrester driven by George Martinez, of Waterbury, collided head-on on Chase Avenue at Homer Street around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Roberts was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

George Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. 

Zairano Martinez, 43, a passenger in the Subaru, was injured and she was transported to Waterbury Hospital, where she is in stable condition.

Martinez’s 18-year-old daughter was taken to Waterbury Hospital. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

Martinez’s 10-year-old daughter was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in critical condition and was later transferred to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford and is now stable.
