Police ID 4-Year-Old Who Died After West Haven Hot Car Incident

A 4-year-old boy has died and his 2-year-old brother was rushed to the hospital after a hot car incident in West Haven Thursday, according to police.

Police responded to an apartment complex on Treat Street after receiving a report of an "injured person" and they found the two children suffering medical issues.

On Friday, police said their investigation suggests the two boys had been inside the family vehicle for a period of time and it does not appear the children were left in the car.

Police believe the person who called 911 was their father.

The two boys were treated at the scene and taken to the hospital. The 4-year-old, Dusan Jenkins, was pronounced dead.

The cause of his death has not been determined. It is pending further studies, according to the office of the chief medical examiner.

The 2-year-old has been identified as Davion Jenkins.  He is still in the hospital but is expected to survive, according to police.

On Friday, police said it was a hot car incident and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is asked to call Detective Suraci at 203 937-3927.
