2 Killed in Wrong-Way Crash Remembered

Friends and family of 2 women killed in a wrong way driving accident came together Friday night in Hartford to remember Linda Santana, 32, of Hartford, and Evelyn Velazquez, 33, of Glastonbury.

Dozen's of white balloons floated high into the sky behind Bulkley High School. Friends and family of both women lit candles and said prayers.

State police say they're still trying to determine why a Portland man drove the wrong way on Interstate 84 in East Hartford and caused the crash that killed the two best friends and injured three other people.

Jamison Coppolino, 31, was driving eastbound in the westbound carpool lane when his vehicle struck two other cars in the HOV lane early Sunday morning, according to state police. The women were driving home from a Manchester comedy club

Another passenger in Santana and Velazquez's car, Stefanie Taylor, 32, of Windsor, was seriously injured. Two people in the third vehicle were also hospitalized, authorities said.

Coppolino was taken to a hospital but didn't appear to be seriously injured, state police said.

Troopers haven't announced any criminal charges.
