A 2-year-old boy, wearing only a diaper and a T-shirt, was found on the streets in West Hartford in 30-degree weather Wednesday morning after wandering out of an apartment on Stevens Street, according to police.
West Hartford police said a driver spotted the child alone on Hillcrest Avenue just before 6:30 a.m. The little boy was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for evaluation.
Temperatures were in the 30s in West Hartford Wednesday morning.
Police canvassed the neighborhood and a group of students recognized the boy in the photo authorities had. They led officers tp the family who lives in an apartment on Stevens Street.
When police responded to the apartment, the family had just discovered the child was missing. The father was taken to the hospital to reunite with his son.
The Department of Children and Families was informed of the incident. No criminal charges have been filed.
