2nd Man Pleads Guilty in Fatal Marijuana Robbery Case

A second man has pleaded guilty to taking part in the October 2012 killing of a 21-year-old man during a marijuana robbery, according to federal prosecutors.

Prosecutors said Trumain Hearst, 21, of Bridgeport, pleaded guilty on Monday to one count of causing the death of Dawayne Cobb, 21, Bridgeport, through the use of a firearm.

Cobb was shot and killed in the driver's seat of an idling car on Sunshine Circle in Bridgeport on Oct. 10, 2012, prosecutors said.

Johnnie Jefferson, also known as "Jeezy" Jefferson, pleaded guilty in federal court in Hartford earlier this month to one count of causing death through use of a firearm.

Both have been detained since July 16, 2013.

Federal authorities said Hearst admitted that he and Jefferson planned to steal marijuana from Cobb. They drove to Sunshine Circle, where they killed Cobb and stole a jar containing two ounces of marijuana, which they brought to a Bridgeport home and handed out, federal officials said.

Jefferson is scheduled to be sentenced in January and Hearst is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
