3 Arrested After Armed Robbery and Ramming Police Cruiser: Police

Two New Haven men and a juvenile accused of robbing a man of his cell phone and wallet in West Haven, then leading police on a chase until crashing into a New Haven police cruiser have been arrested.

Police said they responded to Duchess Diner at 11:10 a.m. to investigate a robbery and the victim said he was walking on York Street, by the diner, when a dark color Range Rover pulled up next to him.

Two men with handguns got out of the vehicle, took the victim’s cell phone and wallet and fled on York Street, the victim said.

West Haven police saw a vehicle matching the description soon after at the Valero Gas Station and started chasing it until losing sight of the Range Rover near the Orange line.

New Haven Police later found the vehicle and the driver crashed into the cruiser during an attempt to get away, police said.

Everyone who was in the vehicle tried to get away, but police found them.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the Valero station and said the fingerprints they lifted matched one of the suspects.

Police said the victim’s credit card was used and the suspect showed identification to buy cigarettes and that fingerprint matched to one of the suspects.

Kenzell Goodman, 21, and 20-year-old Brandon Walker were charged with robbery, larceny and interfering with police.

Both were held on $100,000 bond.

Police also arrested one juvenile.
