3 Injured in 2 Shootings in Bridgeport

Three people were injured in two separate shootings over the weekend in Bridgeport.

The first shooting happened on Barnum Avenue just before 2 a.m. Sunday and witnesses said a man in a black jacket approached the victim and shot at him multiple times, then casually walked away and might have left the area in a white colored Honda.

Officials said the male victim was shot several times in the right arm and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He lost a lot of blood, but is expected to survive.

The second shooting occurred just after 2:15 a.m. at Capitol Avenue and Hudson Street, according to police.

An officer had reported shots fired in the area and tried to stop a Nissan Pathfinder that was fleeing the scene, but the driver jumped out of the moving vehicle at Main and Salem streets and got away.

The empty vehicle continued to roll several hundred feet and stopped along the curb, police said.

According to police, a man and a woman were shot at their Hudson Street home. The victims said a group outside was making noise and the man asked them to keep the noise down and went outside. The woman went outside soon after and they were both shot, police said.

The man was shot in the left leg and had a graze wound to his right leg and went through surgery.

The woman was shot in the buttocks and left knee. Neither person’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

No arrests were made in either shooting as of Sunday.
