3 Arrested in ‘Elaborate' Credit Card Fraud Scheme: Police

Connecticut State police have arrested three people who they said were involved in an “elaborate” credit card fraud scheme.

According to police Oscar Grant, 20, Amanda Lopez, 26, and Marquis Simpson, 23, were all arrested after troopers found 30 fake credit cards in their vehicle during a traffic stop Sunday morning.

Police said the cards had various names on them. They also found multiple gift cards and about $800 in cash.

Grant and Lopez were charged with credit card theft, unlawful completion/reproduction of a credit card, conspiracy and illegal use of a credit card. Simpson was charged with unlawful completion/reproduction of a credit card, conspiracy, and illegal use of a credit card. Simpson was also charged with interfering with an officer because he gave troopers a false name, police said.

Each suspect was held on a $15,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior court Tuesday.
