4-Acre Brush Fire in Milford

Firefighters battled a four-acre brush fire in a wooded area of Milford this morning,

The fire was between a commercial property and a mobile home park behind the Interstate 95 Milford rest area on the northbound side of the highway.

It is out and no structures were in jeopardy, according to Captain Kyle Brotherton, of the Milford Fire Department. There were no evacuations.

Brotherton said it was a labor-intensive operation to get all of the firefighting equipment into the woods and crews are wetting down the area to prevent flare-ups.

The Milford Fire Department called in mutual aid to cover the station.

The cause is not known, but there is a good possibility that dry conditions and wind might have contributed to the fire.
