1 Killed, 92 Hurt and 43 Charged With DUI Over Holiday Weekend

One person was killed, 92 people were injured and 43 people were charged with drunken driving over the long Thanksgiving weekend.

State troopers patrolled roads and highways across the state over the long holiday weekend, with a focus on stopping drunken drivers as well as those who were driving aggressively.
                   
From midnight on Nov. 27 to midnight on Dec. 1, state police responded to responded to 562 crashes. The one fatal crash took the life of Marie White, 41, of Hartford.

State police said White died in a crash around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Her Saab and a Nissan maxima collided on I-84 east near exit 48 in Hartford, according to state police. White's car jumped the concrete jersey barrier and landed on the on- ramp from Capitol Avenue to I-84 west, police said.

The other driver, Cherri Brooks, 31, of Hartford, and her three passengers were transported to St. Francis Hospital to be treated for injuries.

State police also responded to 10,426 calls for service, made 1,134 speeding arrests and made 170 seatbelt violation arrests.

There were also 2,548 other hazardous moving violation arrests.

State police said their holiday enforcement operation continues through the end of the holiday season.
