More than 50 people were cited at what police are describing as an illegal street race on Flatbush Avenue in Hartford early Sunday.
Hartford police said an enforcement detail focused on cracking down on illegal street racing in the city tracked down a racing event at 495 Flatbush Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Officers blocked off the race area to prevent those involved from escaping.
In all, 53 were cited with charges ranging from reckless driving, to driving without a license to simple trespass. Additional suspects fled the scene.
Seven cars were towed from the scene.
