6 ECSU Students Arrested After 2 Parties: Police

Willimantic police arrested six Eastern Connecticut State University students after breaking up two separate college parties at their off-campus houses on Sunday morning.

Police said the parties on Ridgewood Road and Mansfield Avenue ran into the earlier morning, causing “alarm and unwanted commotion,” and they escorted 20 to 25 people from the party. The guests were between 19 and 21 years of age, according to a news release from police.

“The college students have to understand that the tax payers of the city aren’t going to stand for students urinating in their backyards, or having drinking cups strewn across their lawns,” Sgt. Alex Coriarty said in a news release. “We’ve been working diligently with the administration of Eastern for the past several years and we seem to be on the same page when it comes to the off campus parties that take place within the city.”

Six ECSU student who police said hosted the parties were charged with breach of peace.
