About 50 Displaced in Groton Apartment Fire

The American Red Cross is helping about 50 residents of a Groton apartment complex after fire damaged their homes early Monday morning.

The fire at the Long Meadow Landings complex off South Road was reported at about 12:30 a.m. Monday.

Officials say two buildings that house 24 apartments apiece were heavily damaged, leaving dozens of people homeless.

The cause remains under investigation.

The American Red Cross is helping residents find other places to live and provided other aid. Many people stayed at a shelter at a local senior center.
