Access Health Contacting Those Affected by Possible Security Breach

Connecticut's health insurance exchange says fewer than 200 Social Security numbers were listed on notebooks containing personal information of possible Access Health CT clients found in a backpack on a Hartford street.

Access Health said in a statement Saturday that the notebooks apparently belong to an employee of Maximus, the vendor that provides call center services to the exchange.

The exchange has been investigating why the backpack was on the street and has apologized for the potential security breach. The backpack was found by an individual Friday on Trumbull Street, where Access Health is located.

The exchange has been working with police and contacting individuals whose information may have been compromised.

Access Health's legal department is also filing state and federal breach reports.
