Accident Damages Three Utility Poles, Driver Arrested for DUI

A women is under arrest after crashing her car into multiple utility poles in West Hartford then parking on the front lawn of a Hartford home.

Police responded to Albany Ave at Steele St. in West Hartford  just before 10 p.m. on Saturday night.

A Nissan XTerra had crashed into three utility poles and knocked out power to homes around the intersection.

The traffic lights and street lights also lost power.

The driver fled the scene and was later apprehended on Chatham St. in Hartford after her car was seen parked on a lawn there.

The driver, Sheranda Pender, 38 of West Hartford, was trying to smash the door down and gain entry into the home.

Pender was arrested for DWI. Her blood alcohol concentration was .15, nearly double the legal limit.

Pender is being held on a $10,000 bond. She was not injured in the crash.
