Police Charge Suspect Involved in Amber Alert

Police have canceled an Amber Alert for 9-year-old Daisha Rhodes.

Daisha Rhodes and 42-year-old Daniel Candales were located in the parking lot of a Stop and Shop by exit 3 off I-95 in Richmond, Rhode Island.

Police have filed charges against Candales. At an afternoon press conference, police said they charged him with risk of injury, reckless driving and breach of peace.

Last night while at the Stonington Police Department parking lot for a child exchange with his ex-wife, police say Candales became agitated and left the scene with his girlfriend's nine year old child in the car.

Police say he refused to stop for several police agencies.  Police got a fix on his cell phone location to make the arrest and they credit the Amber Alert for help being the case to a quick resolution..

In the meantime, police say the child is safe and that Stonington police went to Richmond to pick her up  and reunite her with her family.

They issued the alert around 9 p.m. Monday after the girl went missing in Stonington with 42-year-old Daniel Candales in a silver 2005 Ford F250 with a snow plow and sander.
