And the Silver Goes to…

The whole country was put to the test.  Public high schools were evaluated.  One hundred received gold.

Connecticut did not make that list, but did take some silver and bronze.

U.S. News and World Report has released its ranking of the Best High Schools for 2009.

Sixteen Connecticut schools were awarded silver medals and five were given bronze.  None received gold or honorable mention.

To rank the schools, U.S. News & World Report and the School Evaluation Services analyzed academic and enrollment information data from more than 21,000 public high schools.

The top 100 high schools with the highest college readiness index scores were ranked numerically and awarded gold medals.

The next 504 top-performing high schools, based on their college readiness index scores, earned silver medals.
