Armed Bank Robbery in Woodbridge

Police said the call was for an armed robbery at Citizens Bank.

Police are investigating an armed robbery at Citizens Bank in Woodbridge.

Police said there was one perpetrator and the man showed a handgun when he entered the bank on Amity Road at 10:05 a.m., immediately vaulted over the counter and began demanding money from the tellers, police said. 

He filled two canvas bags with cash, vaulted back over the counter and left the bank. 

The man was last seen walking south on Amity Road towards New Haven. 

One bag is green. The other is teal and contained a bank security dye pack that might have activated inside the bags as the man was fleeing, police said. 

The man has a large build, is 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall and he was wearing a white T-shirt that has a a Sherwin Williams paint logo on the front and back. he was wearing white painters pants, green knee pads, a dark baseball cap with a gray brim, and purple mechanic style gloves. 

His head and face were covered with an orange nylon stocking type material.

Anyone who recognizes the man or has information pertaining to the bank robbery, or encounters anyone attempting to pass red dye-stained currency is asked to contact the Woodbridge Police Department at (203) 387-2512.
