Armed Robbery at Jewett City Shop

State police are looking for the man who stole cash from a convenience store in Jewett City on Thursday night.

A man with a knife robbed the Best Way Gas Station at 211 North Main Street, police said.

A man entered the store and demanded money from the clerk, who then opened the register, police said. He took the money out of the register and then ran off.

A K-9 was brought in but police did not find the man.

Police said he was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt with orange lettering on the front, blue pants, black Converse sneakers, black gloves, a black knit cap and a white cloth over his face.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Det. John Jette at (860) 848-6532.

Two days before the armed robbery, John Coddington, 27, of Norwich, had stumbled into the store after being stabbed in the neck. Codding died from his injuries and his brother was charged.
