Arson Suspected in Bridgeport Factory Fire

The fire began at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the former AGI Rubber Co. building on Stratford Avenue.

Bridgeport fire officials said they suspect arson in a fire that heavily damaged an abandoned rubber factory.

The fire began at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the former AGI Rubber Co. building on Stratford Avenue.

Assistant Fire Chief William Hathaway told the Connecticut Post that they found no squatters and nobody was injured fighting the fire in the two-story building, which was in foreclosure.

The building's front entrance was sealed when firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from the first floor, Hathaway said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
