Infant's Death Ruled Homicide

A Stamford mother is facing murder charges in the death of her infant son.

Angelina Sarmiento, 25, was arrested Thursday night, according to police.

The baby's body was found Thursday morning in a dumpster outside a multifamily home on Henry Street in Stamford and was taken to Stamford Hospital, where the child was pronounced dead.

The child was born on Wednesday morning.  Sarmiento put the baby into a garbage bag and killed the infant, police said.

The medical examiner said Friday that the baby was suffocated and ruled the death a homicide.

Sarmiento is charged with murder and is being held on $1 million bond.
