Bank of America to Lay Off 107

Thiis is part of a nationwide reorganization, bank officials said.

Bank of America plans to layoff more than 100 workers in Hartford and East Hartford and transfer the jobs out of state.

Bank of America announced a reorganization in 2009 and the company has told state officials that 107 jobs will leave the state by the end of 2011, according to a report posted on the state Department of Labor Web site.

Fifty workers will be affected at the bank’s East Hartford Lockbox site and the jobs will be relocated to Dorchester, Massachusetts. Employees will be laid off between Aug. 11 and Dec. 1.

Fifty-seven jobs will be affected at the Hartford Cash Vault site, according to the WARN report, and those jobs are being moved to Dedham, Massachusetts and Schenectady, New York on Sept. 23.

When bank officials announced the reorganization, they said there would be a nationwide consolidation.

Bank of America has about 4,000 employees in Connecticut. Despite the layoffs, officials said the bank will remain a large employer in the state.
