A Bridgeport museum celebrating the showman P.T Barnum needs $17 million to repair damage caused by a tornado last June.
Winds up to 80 miles per hour blew out two windows on June 24, allowing rain and more wind to sweep through the Barnum Museum and jeopardize artifacts from the man nehind the "Greatest Show on Earth."
New York-based Swanke Hayden Connell Architects has been awarded the contract.
It is expected to take more than two years to fix the damage and renovate the museum.
The city of Bridgeport owns the museum, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
It has been closed since Jan. 2 to assess damage and preserve the collection. The Barnum Museum Foundation has raised more than $250,000 so far to be used specifically for the restoration of the collection and the operations of the museum.
