State officials had to euthanize a bear after it was struck by a car on Route 4 Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened in Goshen on the Torrington town line around 2 p.m. The bear ran off into the woods after being hit, according to state police.
Animal control officers from the Department of Environmental Protection searched for the bear and found it a short time later. They determined the bear's injuries were too severe, and euthanized it.
