Belly up to the Bar, But Quickly

Last Call Could be Extended at Casinos

Connecticut's two Indian-owned casinos are looking to extend drinking hours, in an attempt to keep gamblers at the slot machines and gaming tables longer.

Casinos in Atlantic City can serve 24 hours a day, and Foxwoods and Mohegan say they want to be able to keep up.

Right now, state liquor laws prohibit selling or giving away alcohol on gambling floors after 1 a.m. during the week, and after 2 a.m. on weekends.  And gambling revenue drops off when the bars go dark, according to a spokespeole for the Mohegan Tribe and Mashantucket Pequots.

Preliminary talks with the state are underway.
