Big Changes Possible for Farmington's Crazy Corner

It's been called the "crazy corner" in Farmington, and the town wants to bring a new retail center to the intersection of Routes 4 and 10.

Developers have proposed the project for the intersection's northwest corner, according to the Hartford Courant.

The proposal calls for two buildings on the site to be demolished, and two new buildings to be built. An 18th-century building at the location would be preserved and renovated, the paper reported.

The area has long been a traffic trouble spot, but developers say only minor change to the traffic light at the intersection would be required. A report detailing the project's impact on traffic is expected later this week, according to the Courant.

Farmington's planning and zoning commission is scheduled to vote on the proposal Monday night.
