Suffield Body Identified, Arrests Made

Hartford police have arrested several suspects and identified the body of a man who was found in a large duffel bag near Phelps and Quarry roads.

The victim has been identified as Peter Boateng, 56, of Hartford. Police said Boateng was killed at 171 South Marshall Street in Hartford.

His body was found in Suffield on July 19.

Hartford police have arrested three people in connection with the murder.

Jose Rodriguez, 34, of Hartford, has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence. Rodriguez is held on $1 million bond.

Anthony Hudson, 45, of Hartford, is charged with accessory to commit murder, conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence. Hudson is being held on $750,000 bond.

Meaghan Cowles, 28, of Hartford, is charged with hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence. Cowles is also held on $750,000 bond.

Two teenage hikers discovered the body last Friday after smelling a strong odor emanating from the bag, police said.

According to police, the body was wrapped in a garbage bag and then stuffed into the duffel bag. The body had started to decompose, police said.

Medical examiners conducted an autopsy over the weekend.
