Body Found on Island off Norwalk Coast in 1996 Has Been Identified

A body found on an island off Connecticut more than 20 years ago has finally been identified.

The body of a man was discovered April 18, 1996, on Shea Island in Long Island Sound and it was not clear who he was.

Norwalk police said they were able to identify the man using fingerprints. They received a call Thursday and learned that there was a positive ID on the man’s right ring finger.

Police have identified him as Landberto Quintero.

When his body was found it had been decomposing for eight to 10 months, making identification all but impossible, according to the Norwalk Hour.

Anyone with any information about Mr. Quintero is asked to contact Lieutenant Weisgerber at 203-854-3164 or aweisgerber@norwalkct.org.
