Stonington Police are investigating the discovery of a body found in the water at the mouth of the Mystic River Friday.
Police got a call from a resident of Mason's Island around 11 a.m. to report a body floating in the water off School House Road.
Emergency crews found the body of an elderly man in the water, according to Stonington Police. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Authorities were trying to identify the man Friday afternoon.
