Bomb Scare, Lockdown, Arrest

Former Student’s E-Mail Caused Early Dismissal, Officials Say

A 17 year old high school dropout is in some trouble after sending an e-mail with a bomb threat to Seymour High School Friday morning, officials said.

Just before 7 a.m. Friday , a school administrator received an e-mail from a student who dropped out last week, officials said. In that e-mail was an audio clip of someone threatening the school – and specific administrators -- with a bomb, a school security officer said.

The security official recognized the former student’s voice and police arrested the teen at his home at about 7:30 a.m.

The security official described the student as a good kid who had not previously been in trouble. He is not being identified because of his age.

Because of the bomb threat, the school was put in lockdown and all students were sent home. All weekend activities at the school have been cancelled.
