Branford Animal Control Investigates Poodle's Death

The dog might have been stabbed in the abdomen.

A dog found dead behind an abandoned building on Beaver Road in Branford on March 26, might have been stabbed, and Branford Animal Control Department is looking for information to help determine who is responsible.

Volunteers and Branford Police contacted animal control after finding what looked like a young apricot-colored unneutered male poodle.

UConn performed a necropsy and the results show the dog was dead at least one week before he was found and he was likely stabbed in the abdomen.

Animal control wants to speak to anyone with information about a missing unneutered male apricot poodle, about 1-year-old, that was not groomed.

The dog had no specific tags and was not micro-chipped.

If you have information, call Branford Animal Control at 203-315-4125.
