Bridgeport Man Arrested After Woman ODs on Heroin in Monroe

Federal officials have arrested a Bridgeport man on drug charges after a 30-year-old woman died of a laced heroin overdose.

The woman was found unresponsive in a Monroe home on May 9 and police and medical personnel administered several doses of Narcan, but the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Inside the woman’s pockets, police found unopened heroin folds and tests later revealed the heroin was laced with fentanyl, a powerful opiate, and the medical examiner has determined the woman died of acute heroin and fentanyl toxicity.

After speaking with witnesses and analyzing calls and text messages to and from the victim’s phone, police determined she ordered heroin from Daquone Johnson, 24, of Bridgeport, the day she died, police said.

On Monday, authorities arrested Johnson on heroin distribution offenses, including possession with intent to distribute, distribution of, heroin and conspiracy to distribute heroin.

He has been released on a $125,000 bond.
