Bridgeport Man Charged With Arson

Police have arrested a Bridgeport man accused of setting a fire in a local home.

The fire department responded to 1810 Stratford Ave. just after 2 a.m. to deal with a structure fire.

When police arrived, they spoke with firefighters and witnesses.

A relative of Santiraj Chounlamountry, 31, of Bridgeport, reported going to the home and learning that his video game system was missing, police said.

Chounlamountry is accused of breaking a television and then lighting a garbage bag on fire.

Police said they saw him walking on Arctic Street and detained him.

Chounlamountry was charged with first-degree arson, first-degree reckless endangerment, three counts of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Bond was set at $75,000.
