The state is planning to take over public schools in Bridgeport, but parents have filed an injunction, opposing the state taking over the troubled school district.
Mayor Bill Finch, Supt. John Ramos and the chairperson of the school board requested the takeover last week and said the current board could not effectively run the schools.
The state is in the process of appointing a new board, but parents want to stop the process and said they have a right to vote for officials involved in their children's education.
